The 1st step of beginning with any interior project is to have a discussion with the client about their budget, ideas, requirements, choice of colours, and a lot more, but one might skip a question that might later create an issue. Below we’ve listed down all the questions a designer needs to ask their client before starting any project.
- Type of space (residential/commercial, etc) and the area.
- Location and surroundings.
- The budget.
- Please list what activities their family or team normally would do in each space.
- Please describe the ages and characteristics of those who will be using this space.
- Do the users of this space have any hobbies or extracurricular activities that need to be factored into the design?
- What do they love about the current design/space?
- What do they dislike about the current design?
- Are there any furnishings, decor items, collections, or art pieces they want to keep from their previous place of living?
- Do any users of this space have any special needs that need to be taken into account?
- What are their goals for each room/space?

- Are there any colour combinations they would like to have?
- What design style(s) do they prefer? (Contemporary, Traditional, Transitional, Eclectic, Collected, Modern Mid-century, Modern Modern, Farmhouse, Organic, Ethnic/Global, Hollywood, Glam, Industrial, Classic, Beachy/Coastal, Scandinavian, Bohemian, Asian, Art Deco, etc)
- What words would they use to describe the ideal style of the room? (Casual, Formal, Spacious, Clean Lines, Warm/ Cozy, Light/airy, Elegant, Sophisticated, Welcoming, Romantic, Contemporary, Classic)
